What is Adobe Flash? The Adobe Flash Player is software that enables the user to view and enjoy multimedia applications on either computers or mobile devices. It’s a plugin available for most browsers, although Google Chrome has packaged the components directly in its installation file.
The Adobe Flash Player is capable of decoding SWF files, or Flash, which contains multimedia content such as images, video, or music, or even a combination of all three in a relatively small file format that can also be embedded in websites. First made by Macromedia, the Flash Player technology was acquired by Adobe after the latter bought Macromedia several years ago, and has now solely developed and distributed this technology. Flash Player 11 comes in three different editions or what experts call flavors: ActiveX, plugin, or projector.
ActiveX is primarily intended for Internet Explorer and other native Windows applications that use ActiveX. A plugin, meanwhile, are for other Netscape-based browsers (such as Mozilla Firefox), while a projector is a stand-alone tool able to view SWF files directly without a browser.
Most mobile devices, especially phones, also feature Flash Player functionality, except for Apple’s, and Adobe has provided separate releases for desktops and mobile devices. Download directly from the developer. • What is a file extension? A file extension is the characters after the last dot in a file name. For example, in the file name 'winmail.dat', the file extension is 'dat'. It helps Windows select the right program to open the file.

Trying to download and install Adobe Flash. Adobe says the current version is 12.0.0.43.
When downloading it from Adobe, the version says 12x32_mssd_aaa_aih.exe. Don't understand that. After saving it and trying to install it, it will say that (only a single instance of this application can run).
Clicking the OK button didn't help by eliminating one. I have done an Adobe Flash uninstall, tried re-booting, no Firefox applications are running and use the download folder to install.

Same thing happens. I have had this problem before with the flash updates, and by making sure Firefox was not on, and installing from the download folder after doing a adobe uninstall seemed to work. Tried udating Firefox 26 to 27. I also have Chrome as another browser. Casio fx 991es. But that was never a problem before. Sure would like some help.

For some reason that I no longer recall, I regretfully uninstalled Adobe Flash Player while trying to update all my free Adobe downloads. I could no longer install Flash Player (of course I always uncheck the McAfee box) and got the same message as explained above. Therefore, in Firefox only, I could not view videos. That was so frustrating! Blackberry alarm sound download. I tried many solutions and researched and tried again for a few days but to no avail.
Note that I work in the French version of Windows 8.1 and the French version of all applications. So I researched in both languages for a solution. Then, today, I ended up here and tried the simple install link (the short version in one of the answers) and it worked!
For those who might need to know, the French version was installed with that same link since Adobe always recognizes the language I work in. I am SO happy! I will keep that link in a safe place in my OneNote. To all, thank you!
Merci beaucoup! When I copy the link, I see that the name was shortened for the comment but the original link I used is: 2. You're welcome. I found the link buried in the following support article. It always points to the latest version, whatever it may be. * You may also want to bookmark the link to the uninstaller, which is handy when something goes wrong and the Flash Player installation needs a clean slate.

PROBLEM: Adobe Download Manager hides files on your hard disk. As a result your install doesn't work, and further you can't find the hidden files to delete them. SOLUTION: Find the hidden files underneath the Temporary Internet Files directory DETAILS: If you've downloaded an Adobe product lately using their Download Manager you might have got frustrated because you suddenly found yourself with way less hard disk space than you thought you would.

This is because Adobe in their wisdom, hide the download files in a hidden virtualized directory underneath your Temporary Internet Files directory. The don't tell you this of course, so whilst you think it's downloading into: c: Users craigb Downloads Abode Premiere it is actually downloading into something like this: localhost C$ @GMT-2008.02.08-02.59.35 Users craigb AppData Local Microsoft Windows Temporary Internet Files Virtualized C Users craigb Downloads Adobe Premiere I'm sure there is some well intentioned reason for this – most likely related to security privileges – but frankly, it is a crazy notion.
